Travis and Leanna Hunter Return to Wolfson Children’s to Give Back to the Nurses Who Cared for Their Son

For Travis Hunter and his wife, Leanna, returning to Wolfson Children’s Hospital was about more than a visit. It was a chance to say thank you.

Nearly a year after their son spent time in the NICU, the couple returned to celebrate the nurses who cared for their family during one of the most difficult and uncertain chapters of their lives.

This time, they came bearing lunch, Create Amor scrubs, and a heartfelt thank-you.

The couple’s return also drew attention from ESPN and Yahoo Sports , which covered their gesture of appreciation for the nurses who cared for their son.

The visit was also featured by CBS Sports , offering another look at the story behind the Hunter family’s return.

A Full-Circle Moment

When Travis and Leanna welcomed their son prematurely, they suddenly found themselves navigating the unfamiliar world of the NICU as first-time parents.

Through those difficult weeks, the Wolfson Children’s nurses were there, not only caring for their son, but helping Travis and Leanna navigate the experience as new parents.

The relationships they formed stayed with the family long after they left the hospital. So when they had the opportunity to return, they knew exactly who they wanted to celebrate.

Giving Back to Healthcare Heroes

As part of Create Amor’s Healthcare Heroes Initiative, Travis and Leanna surprised the Wolfson Children’s NICU team with lunch and new Create Amor scrubs.

The NFL also shared the moment on Instagram , offering another look at the couple’s visit and their gesture of appreciation for the nurses.

For Travis, the gesture was personal.

“They treated us very well, took care of us, and I saw the work that they did for everybody else,” Travis shared. “They took care of us just like they took care of everyone else. So it was definitely really, really special to come back and give back to them.”

One of the most meaningful moments of the day was seeing Leanna reconnect with Rebekah Davis, one of the nurses who cared for their son. During the family's NICU journey, Rebekah became a source of comfort and reassurance for Leanna. When the couple returned nearly a year later, that connection was still just as strong. For the Hunter family, it was a powerful full-circle moment: returning to the place where their story began and thanking the people who helped them through it.

Caring for the Caregivers

That's what the Healthcare Heroes Initiative is all about.

Healthcare professionals spend their days caring for others - supporting patients, comforting families, celebrating milestones, and showing up when people need them most.

Create Amor believes those caregivers deserve to feel seen and celebrated, too.

Our mission has always been about more than making scrubs. It's about celebrating the people who wear them.

The Healthcare Heroes Initiative is our way of recognizing those who dedicate their lives to caring for others.

The Hunter family's return to Wolfson Children's was one special example of what that appreciation can look like, and a reminder that the impact of a healthcare professional can last long after a patient leaves the hospital.
